My client is a leading Main Contractor within the Caribbean region who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an additional Quantity Surveyor at a more Junior/Intermediate level. My client has current projects across the Caribbean, and this role could be based on any of their ‘live’ schemes, so flexibility of travel within the region is a must.

 

To be considered, you will have:

  • A solid background within a UK or Caribbean large main contracting environment
  • Experience of new build Commercial projects up to US$30m
  • Prior/current Caribbean experience is preferential, but not a necessity
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (higher class)
  • Between 5 – 7 years’ post graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor (Please note this is a junior-intermediate level posting)
  • Career stability is a key consideration for this client
  • A good understanding of contracts – primarily FIDIC and JCT.

 

Duties include (but are not be limited to):

  • Procurement of materials from both local and overseas suppliers
  • Updating senior managers on the procurement and commercial activities

MEP Contractor client is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to strengthen their Delivery Team within the Caribbean. This is a long term opportunity and will suit a professional who is ideally degree educated (Electrical Engineering) and has at least 7 years’ experience in a similar capacity within the MEP contracting sector. My client operates within the Luxury Residential, Hotel/Resort, Commercial and Retail sectors.

 

Key Duties (but not limited to):

  • Provide technical guidance and support as the team installs, maintains, and repairs the building’s electrical system.
  • Responsible for ensuring that safety standards and compliance codes are met, and oversee the training and scheduling of workers. Maintaining and troubleshooting equipment is part of their job duties as well.
  • Be familiar with the building’s electrical system and be able to troubleshoot the devices involved. A strong knowledge of electrical and circuitry layouts is essential.
  • Electrical Supervisors should be prepared to work unconventional hours, as they must be on call for electrical emergencies.
  • As this is a leadership position, the Electrical Supervisor should be familiar with the positions of the team under them. Electrical Supervisors will generally have past experience in the field of electronics. The exact job duties will vary based on the type of facility and the specifics of the electrical system, but they will always require someone with strong people skills and wide technical knowledge. All large buildings have a complex and coordinated electrical system, and as such the job growth outlook for the Electrical Supervisor position is strong and growing.
  • The job duties of an Electrical Supervisor will also entail technical, interpersonal and administrative responsibilities. My client is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Health & Safety Officer.  The successful candidate will be a vital contributor for the construction team to sustain a safe environment to avoid and minimize safety and environmental related problems – prevention of human injury, environmental degradation and unsafe working conditions/practices.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare Health & Safety plans
  • Perform detailed safety inspections, provide recommendations and coordinate inspection activities for projects
  • Develop, customize and supervise safety programs, including project site-based safety orientations
  • Conduct job hazard analysis
  • Give Toolbox Talks
  • Manage training within the company and enforce safety guidelines
  • Provide guidance, assistance and advice to inspectors, project managers, sub-contractors through interpretations of safety practices and procedures
